General Motors and PSA Peugeot-Citroen are looking for ways to combine their European business structure. The two sides announced an alliance in March of this year. At the same time it was reported that the company will start from October 4 to work on joint projects. In particular, the parties will establish a compact car for emerging markets, mid-size car, a sedan and a compact car with a high level. The first two models will be available in 2016.
Now, Reuters, citing its sources says that Opel can enter into the PSA. The main goal pursued by the parties, is to reduce the losses that General Motors and the French Alliance are due to the fall of the European car market.
If we believe the sources close to the negotiations, General Motors may sell Opel of Peugeot, bought at the same time the share of the French automaker. The second option under consideration - the union of the two companies into one. American concern can get 30% in the joint venture, in which it will invest 10 billion dollars.
