Since the BMW Group has received in its hands the British brand and the first modern MINI model came out at the beginning of the new millennium, the automaker#39;s lineup is constantly expanding.
MINI is now considering the possibility of adding another 5-door models to its lineup after the crossover Countryman, and we have photographic evidence of the first prototype of the new model.
This is a 5-door hatchback version of the third-generation MINI, which is to come together with a traditional 3-door model in the second half of 2013.
Both variants of hatchback will go on a newly developed front-wheel and all-wheel drive modular platform UKL1 from BMW Group.
This first spy photo shows that the more practical five-door model will have a slightly longer wheelbase. Engine options will be divided the same for both versions of the model, including a new range of turbocharged three-cylinder petrol and diesel variants.
Convertible version of this model is also in development and will be released to the market in about a year after the presentation of hatchbacks.
