Numerous signs in particular falcon and bull horns suggest that the central character in the picture is the Pharaoh.


According to Maria Carmela Gatto, of Yale University, presumably the figure shows the pharaoh Narmer, united Upper and Lower Egypt. But, in any case, this picture is the oldest known image of the pharaoh.
