According to preliminary data, the modification of the Z06 will retain seven-liter eight-cylinder engine from the same version of Corvette of the previous generation. However, its capacity will be increased from 505 to about 600 horsepower. The final decision on the impact of this unit will be made after engineers will find out how much they will be able to remove with a 6.2-liter Corvette Stingray, which will appear on the ZR1.
Typically, the power options for Z06 and ZR1 differs by one hundred horsepower. Therefore, experts Chevrolet will need to achieve returns of 700 horsepower. Now companies are considering several ways to boost the motor - with a mechanical supercharger or two turbines.
For the previous ZR1 use the first option, but the publication Motor Trend said that this does not mean that the new Corvette will get a similar powerplant. Selection of pressurization will depend primarily on how to get economical motor.
It is expected that the first of the charged versions of Corvette will appear on the market in about a year.
