Toyota has invested a huge amount of money to accelerate the development of hybrid transmissions for cars. In fact, the car manufacturer is now increasing sales model Prius, which is famous as one of the most popular hybrids in the United States.
It is not surprising that the company is in no hurry to take a complete package for electric vehicles, but prefers to develop plug-in version of its Prius. However, the automaker recently announced that he has a very conservative plans for sales of small electric vehicles - a limited edition of 100 pieces in the U.S. and Japan.
As you may recall, earlier Toyota expected more, especially when it was presented purely electric version of the mini-car Toyota IQ. Two years later, there are many difficulties - says Takeshi Uchiyamada, vice chairman of Toyota, which oversees the development of this vehicle.
Toyota has also abandoned plans to add a second electric vehicle in its lineup. As noted above, Toyota, obviously have a vested interest in hybrid market. The ability of the electric vehicles do not meet society#39;s needs, whether it be the distance at which cars can run without fuel, or expense or time to charge - added Uchiyamada.
While Toyota plans to significantly lower its introduction of electric vehicles than expected, the company also says the new hybrids and plans to have 21 hybrid vehicle in its lineup in 2015.
