OUR ANCESTORS BEGAN TO EAT MEAT ON MAY 1 MILLION YEARS AGO

Our ancestors began to eat meat 1.5 million years ago

OUR ANCESTORS BEGAN TO EAT MEAT ON MAY 1 MILLION YEARS AGOSkull fragment discovered by researchers indicates that our ancestors began to eat meat, at least one and a half million years ago. According to Charles Musiby, a professor of anthropology at the University of Colorado, the use of meat for food was considered one of the main factors that made us human, because the increase in the consumption of proteins present in this product, contributed to the growth of the brain.

The find was discovered by anthropologists in the cradle of mankind - Olduvai Gorge in northern Tanzania. Five-centimeter bone fragment belonged to the 2 year old child and had obvious signs of poroticheskogo hyperostosis, caused by anemia. Scientists believe the disease is likely to be triggered by a sudden cessation of meat in the diet. Perhaps, this product has been removed from the child#39;s diet during weaning him from the breast.

This conclusion leads to the conclusion that mankind is in the early Pleistocene, ie much earlier than previously thought, it was adapted to the diet, comprising regular consumption of animal meat, and its deficiency can lead to pathological changes in the human body and even death.

The discovery is an impetus for further research in which to answer the many questions still, in particular, that initially prompted our ancestors to eat meat, and what role it played in the evolution of early man.
